The AI golf swing analysis platform is a smart sports analysis solution that acts as a virtual coach for golf players and enthusiasts. The solution uses AI to track and review the user’s body movements and swing angles to improve form, posture, and swing accuracy. It autonomously provides feedback and recommendations on body posture and movement directly on the screen by analysing recorded videos or live webcam feeds. This solution helps in making golf swing analysis & coaching accessible and affordable when compared to traditional golf coaching and motion capture systems.
The Case
Traditional golf coaching is expensive and time-consuming, with coaches needing to be present in-person or having to manually screen the recorded videos frame-by-frame to analyse swing angles, player posture, etc.
Traditional online coaching solutions may require
- expensive equipment,
- wearable sensors,
- professional motion capture systems.
For amateur golf players, these solutions are impractical, expensive, and inaccessible. There was an increasing need for an intelligent solution that could overcome these shortcomings.
A solution that could
- track player movements,
- analyse swing angles, and
- autonomously generate recommendations and corrective actions.
Our goal was to design and develop an AI golf swing analysis platform that works without requiring special equipment, while still providing accurate swing angle and body movement detection and analysis.
Challenges
Reliable Body Movement & Swing Detection:
Every golf player has a different posture, preferred swing angle, and swing speed. Building a system that reliably traces body movements across all players was challenging.
Real-time Processing & Analysis:
The system had to process and trace body movements and swing trajectories on screen during playback without delays and interruptions.
Handling Multiple Video Sources & Formats:
The system had to support the analysis of live webcam feeds, uploaded videos, and different video sizes & formats. Managing these inputs while maintaining accurate tracking requires careful handling.
Autonomous Analysis & Recommendations:
The system had to independently analyze player posture, swing mechanics, body alignment, and movement patterns to generate accurate feedback and personalized improvement recommendations. Ensuring that the AI could detect subtle inconsistencies, compare movements against optimal swing models, and deliver actionable insights in real time without manual intervention was a significant challenge.
